Westside Gunn, the leader of Griselda, celebrated the anniversary of his album on Twitter and announced exciting news about its sequel. The highly anticipated album, titled “& Then U Pray For Me,” is scheduled to release on June 23. In his tweet, Gunn also paid tribute to his late friend Virgil Abloh, who created the beautiful cover art for the “Pray For Paris” album using Caravaggio’s iconic painting, “David with the Head of Goliath.”
Gunn expressed his gratitude and excitement on his Twitter account, saying, “Happy Birthday to a MASTERPIECE, this album changed my life forever!!!! I want to thank my late great brother @virgilabloh for everything he has done for me and continues to do for me.” He added, “& THEN U PRAY FOR ME” drops on 6/23, and yes, this is “Pray for Paris 2″ releasing Friday during Fashion Week.”
“Pray For Paris” was released in April 2020 and showcased the exceptional production work of Daringer, Beat Butcha, the Alchemist, DJ Muggs, and DJ Premier. The album featured guest appearances from talented artists such as Benny the Butcher, Conway the Machine, Joey Badass, Tyler, the Creator, Boldy James, Freddie Gibbs, Roc Marciano, Wale, Joyce Wrice, Billie Essco, Keisha Plum, and Cartier Williams.
