Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, is a prominent Nigerian singer and songwriter born on July 16, 1990, in the Ojuelegba suburb of Surulere, Lagos. He is a significant figure in the Afrobeats movement, creating a unique blend of musical styles including Afrobeats, afropop, R&B, reggae, dancehall, and pop. Wizkid began his musical journey at the age of 11, collaborating with a group of church friends to release an album.
In 2009, he signed with Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment, which marked a turning point in his career. He gained widespread recognition with the release of “Holla at Your Boy,” the lead single from his debut studio album, ‘Superstar’, in 2011. The album also included successful tracks like “Tease Me/Bad Guys” and “Don’t Dull.”
