YNW Melly‘s “Young New Wave” Album Leak Download ZIP MP3 Free File
YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Maurice Demons, shared the story behind his rap name during an interview on All Def Music’s Arts & Raps show in 2019.
During the interview with the two young hip-hop enthusiasts Nathan Plummer and Dilan Patton, the Florida rapper revealed that YNW stands for “Young New Wave” but he jokingly told the hosts that it actually stands for “Young N***a World” since kids were watching. He also explained how he came up with the name “Melly.”
According to him, he was once involved in a petty theft of a cheeseburger, which he got away with. Since his real name is Jamel, he decided to take out the letters “J” and “A” from his name to get “Mel.” Then, he added “y” to it after he noticed that the burger had jelly on it, and he thought of the word “Jelly.” Thus, he came up with “Melly.” His friend initially thought it was a lame name, but Melly stuck with it and became his rap name.
About YNW Melly
Jamell Maurice Demons, professionally known as YNW Melly, is an American rapper and singer born on May 1, 1999. He gained popularity in 2018 with the release of his single “Murder on My Mind,” a trap song that explores homicidal ideation. The song peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and led him to sign with 300 Entertainment. He released his debut commercial mixtape, I Am You, in 2018, which was met with positive critical reception. The follow-up, We All Shine (2019), received gold certifications by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
YNW Melly’s success was short-lived as he was charged with the double-murder of two fellow rappers in the “YNW” collective in 2019. He is currently facing life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or the death penalty if convicted. He is also a suspect in the 2017 murder of a sheriff’s deputy in Gifford. He pleaded not guilty to the double-murder charges, and his retrial is currently paused, awaiting adjudication of the inclusion of digital evidence.
Jamell Demons grew up in Gifford, Florida, and was raised by his single mother, Jamie Demons-King. His mother was only 14 years old when she became pregnant with him and struggled to provide for him. Demons joined the Bloods gang at a young age and started posting his songs on SoundCloud when he was 15. In late 2015, he was arrested for shooting at three students near Vero Beach High School. He was subsequently convicted of aggravated battery, discharging a firearm in public, and two counts of aggravated assault, for which he served a year in juvenile detention.
