Jeffery Lamar Williams, born on August 16, 1991, is an American rapper known professionally as Young Thug. He is recognized for his unique vocal style and fashion sense and is considered an influential figure in modern hip hop and trap music, as well as a pioneer of the mumble rap microgenre. Williams began his musical career in 2011 and released a series of mixtapes starting with “I Came from Nothing.” In 2013, he signed with fellow Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records and gained further attention for his debut mixtape with the label, “1017 Thug,” released in February of that year.

Young Thug debuted in 2010 as a guest appearance on rapper TruRoyal’s song “She Can Go.” After releasing the first three installments of his mixtape series “I Came from Nothing” throughout 2011 and 2012, Young Thug caught the attention of fellow Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane, who signed him to his label 1017 Brick Squad Records, an Asylum/Atlantic imprint, in 2013. Thug released his first project on the label, his fourth mixtape, “1017 Thug,” which received positive reviews from music critics for its original style.

On Friday, NIGO is set to release a collaborative single with Young Thug called “Dope Boy.” NIGO announced the single’s release on his Instagram story, sharing a snippet of the music video. The song features production work from Wheezy and clever lyricism from Young Thug, mentioning cultural pillars such as Nike, Richard Mille, filmmaker Spike Lee, Fendi, and Ford. As of now, “Dope Boy” is a standalone single, and there has been no announcement of a forthcoming project from either NIGO or Young Thug.
